Waveguide Variable Attenuator

0~40 dB continuous attenuation.

Waveguide Variable Attenuator is a passive component used for continuously and accurately adjusting signal power in microwave / millimeter-wave systems.

Its core function is to vary attenuation via mechanical or electronic control, making it suitable for dynamic power control, test calibration, system matching, and other applications.

Working Principle

It relies on controllable energy absorption:
  • A resistive attenuation plate (silicon carbide, graphite, metallized thin film, etc.) is inserted inside the waveguide.
  • The insertion depth / position of the plate is adjusted mechanically (knob / micrometer).
  • The attenuation plate interacts with the electric field of electromagnetic waves, converting electromagnetic energy into heat, achieving 0~40 dB continuous attenuation.
