Waveguide Matched Load

Customizable shape, size, flange; ideal for dynamic cabling, space-constrained, and harsh environments.

Waveguide matching loads are non-reflective termination devices connected to waveguide ports. Within the operating frequency band, they strictly match the input impedance of the waveguide to its characteristic impedance, completely absorbing incident electromagnetic wave energy and converting it into thermal energy without generating reflected waves.

 

Typical Structure

  • Waveguide Housing: Standard waveguide with good thermal conductivity. The absorber is tightly attached to the metal waveguide housing to dissipate heat.
  • Tapered Absorber: Made of absorbing material in the form of a gradual wedge, extending slowly from the waveguide port into the interior, where electric and magnetic fields are gradually absorbed.
  • Coated Absorbing Materials: Silicon carbide, ferrite, carbonyl iron powder, resistive coatings, graphite-loaded materials, etc.
  • Short-Circuit Back Cover: The end is usually short-circuited, allowing residual unabsorbed energy to pass through the absorber again to further reduce reflection.
