Flexible and twistable waveguides are RF/millimetre-wave transmission components designed specifically for dynamic cabling and space-constrained environments. Featuring a waveguide structure with high flexibility and twistability, they perfectly address the challenges posed by traditional rigid waveguides, such as complex installation and inability to adapt to dynamic structures.

 

Core Structure and Materials

  • Inner Conductor (Core): Typically an interlocking rectangular corrugated tube.
  • Material: Brass
  • Outer Sheath: Silicone rubber.
  • Interface Flanges: Standard WR series waveguide flanges fitted at both ends, made of brass or aluminium.

 

Performance Characteristics

  • Excellent flexibility: The bendable and twistable flexible waveguide offers superior flexibility, maintaining consistent electrical performance even when bent or twisted.
  • High bending and twisting capability: Supports bending and twisting in both the E-plane and H-plane; maximum twist angle and minimum bending radius vary by specific model.
  • Low signal attenuation: The waveguide surface is silver-plated to minimise signal attenuation, ensuring high-quality signal transmission

  • Model FSWG70LXC109: Corresponds to waveguide specification BJ70 (WR137), frequency range 5.85–8.2 GHz, VSWR 1.2, insertion loss 0.3 dB, average power 2 kW, maximum twist angle in the E-plane 205°, maximum twist angle in the H-plane 100°, minimum bending radius 200 mm.
  • Model FSWG84LXC65: Corresponds to waveguide specification BJ84 (WR112), frequency range 7.05–10 GHz, VSWR 1.2, insertion loss 0.35 dB, average power 2 kW, maximum twist angle in the E-plane 260°, maximum twist angle in the H-plane 78°, minimum bending radius 152 mm.
  • Other models, such as the FSWG100LXC65, also possess corresponding electrical and mechanical performance parameters and can be selected according to specific requirements.
