Double-Ridged Waveguide Rotary Joint

The Double Ridge Waveguide Rotary Joint is an ultra-wideband specialized rotary joint developed based on the double-ridged waveguide transmission system. The inner upper and lower walls of the cavity adopt a symmetric inward double-ridge structure, which greatly reduces the cutoff frequency and broadens the transmission bandwidth.

Equipped with a built-in broadband multi-stage choke rotary interface and precision bearings, it realizes stable full-band signal transmission during 360° unlimited continuous rotation.
It delivers the widest bandwidth among all types of waveguide rotary joints, perfectly breaking the narrowband and single-band limitations of conventional rectangular I/L/U-type joints. A single unit can meet the rotary feeding demands of multi-band, wide-spectrum, frequency-hopping and ultra-wideband radar or reconnaissance systems. It acts as a critical feeding component for broadband electronic warfare, UWB radar and spectrum monitoring platforms.

Essential Cavity Structure

  • Conventional Rectangular Waveguide: Features a hollow rectangular cross-section.
  • Double-Ridged Waveguide: Symmetric metal ridges extend inward from the upper and lower walls of the rectangular cavity. The electric field is concentrated between the double ridges, fundamentally optimizing electromagnetic transmission characteristics.
