Surface mount circulators are miniature planar ferrite passive devices in SMT chip packaging. Using gyromagnetic effects, they provide unidirectional signal transmission with high reverse isolation. Their compact, board-solderable form factor is ideal for high-density small RF modules used in portable communications, array transceivers, and miniature microwave equipment.
The surface mount circulator is a miniature planar ferrite passive device in SMT chip packaging. Leveraging the gyromagnetic effect, it achieves unidirectional signal transmission and highly efficient reverse signal isolation. With an ultra-compact footprint for direct PCB soldering, it is perfectly suited for high-density small RF modules and widely used in portable communication, array transceiver, and miniature microwave equipment.
Working Principle
The device employs an internal Y-junction stripline structure with a ferrite core and a permanent magnet bias field. Signals travel along a fixed path: Port 1 to 2, Port 2 to 3, and Port 3 to 1 with low loss, while reverse transmission signals are largely canceled and blocked, achieving unidirectional loop transmission and port-to-port isolation.
