Waveguide Pressure Window

Its core function is to maintain low-loss transmission of electromagnetic signals in waveguide systems while isolating pressure differentials, moisture, dust, and corrosive gases between the inside and outside of the cavity. It serves as a critical protective component for high-power, gas-filled, vacuum, or outdoor radar/communication systems.
The Waveguide Pressure Window (also known as waveguide sealing window or waveguide vacuum window) is a hermetically sealed microwave passive component.

Core Functions & Principles

  • Electromagnetic Transmission: Uses low-loss, high dielectric constant stability dielectric materials (such as quartz, PTFE glass cloth) as the window disc, enabling efficient penetration of the TE₁₀ dominant mode for continuous signal transmission.
  • Hermetic Sealing: The dielectric window disc and metal flange achieve full hermetic sealing via high-temperature welding, brazing, or vacuum bonding, capable of withstanding positive pressure, vacuum, or pressure differential environments.
  • System Protection:
    • Prevents moisture, salt spray, and dust from entering the waveguide, avoiding oxidation, corrosion, and VSWR degradation.
    • Maintains a dry, gas-filled environment inside the waveguide, improving high-power handling capacity and voltage withstand capability.
    • Isolates vacuum equipment (such as traveling-wave tubes, gyrotrons) from the external atmospheric environment.
