Waveguide To Microstrip Adapter (Right Angle) (End Launch)

Waveguide-to-Microstrip Adapter is a key component for high-efficiency mode conversion between waveguide (TE₁₀ mode) and microstrip line (quasi-TEM mode) in microwave and millimeter-wave systems. It is specially designed for integrating planar circuits (PCB) with waveguide systems, and widely used in radar, satellite communications, 5G/6G millimeter-wave applications, RF testing and other scenarios.

Core Principle and Structure

  • Mode Conversion: Converts TE₁₀ transverse electric wave in the waveguide to quasi-TEM transverse electromagnetic wave in the microstrip line. Low-loss and low-VSWR transition is realized through probe coupling, ridge waveguide tapering, impedance matching and cavity resonance.

Typical Structure

  • Waveguide Port: Standard rectangular waveguide (WR series: WR-90/X, WR-62/Ku, WR-28/Ka, etc.)
  • Transition Section: Coaxial probe / microstrip probe, stepped ridge waveguide, air cavity, impedance tapered line
  • Microstrip Port: Directly soldered to PCB microstrip line (50 Ω standard impedance)
  • Flange: UG/CPR standard square flange (for fixed mounting)
