7.波导大功率负载

Rectangular High Power Waveguide Termination

Available in copper, aluminum or brass with high-temperature refractory absorber elements. Customizable cooling methods including natural convection, forced-air, or water/glycol circulation. Ideal for radar systems, satellite ground stations, broadcast transmitters, particle accelerators, and RF power amplifier testing where reliable absorption of high CW or peak power is critical. Compliant with MIL-DTL-3954 specifications for waveguide dummy loads.

Rectangular High Power Waveguide Termination are waveguide termination absorbers operating at kilowatt (kW), tens of kilowatts, or even megawatt levels. Their core function is to fully absorb high-power microwave energy, convert it into heat, and dissipate it without arcing, breakdown, or overheating, while maintaining extremely low reflection.
Unlike common low-power loads, they differ not merely in resistance value, but feature entirely distinct designs for heat dissipation, field strength, materials, and structure.

Typical Structural Types

  • Tapered / Wedge Absorber Load (Most Common)
  • Equipped with a long tapered absorbing wedge extending gradually from the waveguide aperture.
  • Materials: high-loss ceramics, silicon carbide (SiC), aluminum nitride, graphite-loaded dielectrics.

Features:

  • Graded electric field, resistant to breakdown
  • Smooth absorption, excellent VSWR
  • Suitable for continuous-wave (CW) high-power operation

Fluid-Cooled Waveguide Load (Ultra-High Power)

  • Cooling oil, deionized water, or fluorinated fluid flows inside or around the absorber.
  • Heat is directly removed by the flowing liquid.
  • Power range: 10 kW up to MW level.
  • Widely used in radar transmitters, particle accelerators, and high-power microwave systems.

Air-Cooled High-Power Load

  • Fitted with large external heat dissipation fins.
  • Equipped with forced-air fans.
  • Typical power: 1 kW–10 kW.
  • Simple structure and high reliability.

Multi-Layer Resistor / Grid-Type Load

  • Multiple resistive films arranged along the electric field direction.
  • Distributes heat and reduces local field strength.
  • Suitable for pulsed high-power applications.

Bent / Folded Waveguide High-Power Load

  • Waveguide formed into U-shape or folded configuration to extend absorption path.
  • Improves absorption and heat dissipation area within limited volume.
  • Ideal for compact high-power applications in airborne and shipborne systems.
